About Marie Bové

Marie Bové has been cutting hair in New York City for almost thirty years. She was trained by Christopher Pluck in the Vidal Sassoon method of precision haircutting, and specializes in wash-and-wear styles for clients of all ages. She opened Marie Marie Bove

Bové salon in 1987 with two people on staff and has grown her business to include more than a dozen stylists and a strong team of technicians. Many of her regular clients have been coming to her since the salon opened—or even longer—but she always welcomes new faces. Everyone at the salon stays up to date on the latest techniques and technology.

About Our Staff

Peter Oquendo has been cutting hair for more the 20 years. He has extensive experience with updos and has worked in musical theater and high fashion—but he works well with clients of all ages who want a cut, color or style that looks runway-ready.

Anna Acevedo makes a point of keeping up with new styles as they develop, so that she can do any haircut her clients want. She regularly takes classes to learn the latest techniques for all hair types, and makes sure all of her clients can maintain their styles at home. Anna is an expert in Keratin Treatments and Japanese Straightening.

Marina Moldavsky trained in Europe and has more than 30 years experience cutting hair. In addition to cuts, she specializes in color, perm and set techniques.

David Weber has been styling hair for sixteen years and has recently passed the fifteen year milestone as a cosmetology teacher. He specializes in cuts, colors, highlights and keratin treatments. David enjoys working with all types of clients and has a rich history in performance music as well as providing makeup and hair styling for fashion shoots.

Donald Francis has traveled the world cutting hair and educating stylists. When he's not at Marie Bové, he styles behind-the-scenes for fashion shows, television, film festivals, and private clients.

Handri Gunawan trained in San Francisco and London and has been cutting hair in New York for almost five years. He is an expert in highlighting, and also works closely as a stylist for TV news talents at Bloomberg TV and NBC.

Shannon Arell is trained in the classic French haircutting technique—as well as painting, sculpture and sociology! She specializes in working with the natural texture of hair to create a style that flows organically, but is just as comfortable with avant-garde cut and color techniques.

Tom Curtis works with a variety of clients, whether they’re college age or more mature. He’s been cutting hair professionally for about 25 years—and that’s not including the time he spent doing his sister’s hair before he even knew how.
